Meridian Acupuncture needed a professional, modern logo to support a clinic rebrand from Canyonville Acupuncture. The identity needed to feel calming and contemporary while avoiding common visual clichés in the wellness and acupuncture space. This project focused exclusively on logo design and foundational brand guidelines for use across print, signage, and digital platforms.

Insight
This was my first freelance design project—and a formative one.
The client had a strong emotional connection to her vision but struggled to articulate it, famously saying: “I don’t know what I want, but I’ll know it when I see it.” While challenging, this pushed me to lean heavily into structured exploration, concept rationale, and visual storytelling to guide decision-making.
Process / Exploration
I developed multiple concept directions grounded in the client’s stated preferences and clear boundaries:
No needles, symbols, or overt medical imagery
No traditional “spa” or yogi visuals
A balance of ancient philosophy with modern design
Subtle references to meridian lines, flow, and navigation
Concepts explored included Geography of the Body, Breaking Traditions Naturally, Compass Meets Meridian, and Meridian Body Lines, each presented through hand sketches and refined digitally to test clarity, scalability, and tone.

Solution
Through collaboration and iteration, we returned to the client’s original sketch—refining it rather than reinventing it.
The final identity preserved her initial vision while elevating it through modern typography, simplified geometry, and a restrained color palette inspired by water and natural movement. The result felt grounded, calming, and professional without leaning into expected industry tropes.

Impact
This project established my approach to client collaboration early in my freelance career: listen closely, document clearly, explore intentionally, and refine with purpose. The final logo was later extended into business cards and apparel, and the process itself became a foundation for how I manage creative direction with clients who know what they feel but need help defining what they see.
